On-site measure & recommendation
Roof type, gutter profile and tree cover assessed; the right guard specified, not just the one on special.
Gutter guard is a mesh or screen system fitted over the gutter opening so leaves and twigs stay out while water gets through. The right system cuts how often gutters need cleaning dramatically — and on a leafy block it's usually cheaper over a few years than paying for repeated emergency clears plus the damage an overflow causes.
There is no single best guard type: mesh aperture, profile and fixing method all depend on your roof type (tile vs metal), gutter profile and what's actually falling onto your roof. That's why installation starts with an on-site measure rather than a phone quote.

Quality aluminium and steel mesh systems fixed correctly to suit tile or metal roofs.
Gutters are fully cleared first — fitting guard over existing debris just seals the problem in.
The debris entry points beyond the gutter line itself get addressed too.
Well-fitted mesh keeps the overwhelming bulk of leaves and twigs out of the gutter channel, so water runs freely and cleaning frequency drops from twice a year to a rare check. It also reduces ember entry in bushfire-prone areas, which is why many BAL-assessed properties use it as standard.
What it doesn't do is make gutters maintenance-free forever. Fine silt and organic grit still washes through mesh and settles in the channel over years — an occasional inspection and flush keeps the system honest. Any installer claiming 'never clean again' is selling past the truth.
If your gutters fill fast because of big overhanging gums, guard pays for itself within a few annual cleans and saves the between-cleans worry every storm season. If your block has light tree cover and a once-a-year clean handles it comfortably, spending that money on guard may not stack up yet — we'll tell you straight at the quote either way, because recommending guard where it isn't warranted loses more in trust than it gains in invoice.
Anyone quoting a firm price before seeing your roof is guessing. What we can tell you is what drives the number:
The single biggest factor.
A targeted repair costs less than restoring or replacing a whole roof.
Roof pitch, height and site access all affect the job.
Colorbond, tile and slate carry different costs and different lifespans.
Removing an existing roof or gutter system costs more than working on a prepared surface.
