Gutter Cleaning in Sydney

Blocked gutters don't just overflow messily — they push water back under the roofline and down the fascia, which is how a full gutter ends up causing roof-leak symptoms. In leafy Sydney suburbs, gutters full of gum leaves, twigs and silt are the single most common cause of overflow problems we see.

Cleaning is done by hand with the debris bagged and removed from site, not hosed into your downpipes. While we're up there, every gutter and downpipe is flushed and visually checked for splits, sagging brackets and rust — small faults get flagged in the written report before they turn into repairs.

How often do gutters need cleaning?

For most Sydney homes, once a year is enough. Houses under large eucalypts or pines, or in bushland-adjacent streets, usually need a clean every six months — gum trees drop leaves continuously rather than seasonally. After a major storm, a check is worth booking regardless of schedule, since one good wattle branch can fill a valley.

The honest test is simple: during rain, watch the downpipe outlets. If little or no water comes out while it's pouring on the roof, something upstream is blocked. Overflow over the outer edge at a low point means a silted section that needs clearing before the weight pulls the brackets out.

Why not just leave them until there's a problem?

Because the failure mode is expensive and invisible from the ground. Standing water in a blocked gutter works its way into the fascia and eaves, and in summer the same debris load is a bushfire ember risk. Regular clearing is the cheapest roofing maintenance there is, and the included fault check catches loose brackets and early rust before they become repair jobs.

What affects the price

What does this actually cost?

Anyone quoting a firm price before seeing your roof is guessing. What we can tell you is what drives the number:

Roof area

The single biggest factor.

Extent of damage

A targeted repair costs less than restoring or replacing a whole roof.

Access

Roof pitch, height and site access all affect the job.

Material

Colorbond, tile and slate carry different costs and different lifespans.

What's there now

Removing an existing roof or gutter system costs more than working on a prepared surface.

Frequently asked

FAQ

How much does gutter cleaning cost?
Pricing depends on house size, storeys and how heavily the gutters are loaded. You get a fixed price before any work starts, based on the details you give us.
Do you remove the rubbish?
Yes. Debris comes down in bags and leaves the property with us — nothing is washed into downpipes or left in garden beds.
Can you clean a two-storey house?
Yes, both single and double-storey homes are covered, with appropriate access equipment for the height.
Is gutter cleaning dangerous DIY?
Ladder work at gutter height is one of the most common sources of serious home-injury incidents. Beyond a single-storey visual check, it is generally worth leaving to insured professionals.
